- Pressed flowers and leaves
Store bought papers often are too strong in color and pattern or too plain to be fun for good
pressed flower card. Why don't we have a family project together to create unique botanical art paper?
Here is how to get great background paper for this card:
- Collect some small leaves with visible vains. I have used honeysuckle.
- Spray repositional glue on one sheet of computer paper.
- Line the leaves into desirable pattern with the back side facing up
- Cover with a white paper.
- Use color pecil to paint in straight line motion over the leaves.
Now we are ready to make the card.

Trim the background paper to 3.5X5.5.
Attach leaves first, then flowers. Use just a tiny dot of glue in strategic locations to attach flowers and leaves.

Spray photo glue onto the pressed flower arrangement like on the left. Make sure the entire surface is covered.
Cover the design with the rayon unryu like on the right. Make sure the entire surface is attached.

As you can see the flowers look like all hiding behind the rayon unryu paper.
Put a drop of the resin glue on each flower. Spread the glue evenly and thinly with finger tip. Now you can see the flowers come out as if there is nothing covering them. I have tried silicon glue from home improvement stores. They work but not as well as the Japanese glue. The Japanese glue dries to a finish that you would not notice any covering. The glue from home improvement stores will dry shinnier. You can find the Japanese glue in my website store.
Trim off the rayon unryu from the sides. Glue the design on a piece of contrasting handmade paper. Glue the whole assembly to the card.
Now you have a top quality handmade pressed flower art card.
